Exclusively created by gathering field recordings from ‘Goodwins Olympic’, Raheel Khan threads together a fly-on-the-wall piece from the cars based at the local taxi firm in South Manchester.
The audio provides a rare chance to listen to taxi drivers’ relationships with their customers and the situations that they face. More often than not, these drivers are the unsung protagonists that accompany most on journeys far-and-wide, a character that remains crucial to the plot but isn’t always given a name. This piece does not exist as an accurate microscope, but rather a righteous and sincere spotlight for taxi drivers and the stories that they create.
